When we lived in Vancouver in the 80’s, we rented the top floor of a house near Cambie. There were two mature Monkey Puzzle trees on the front lawn. Hailing from Chile, Araucaria araucana is perfectly hardy here on Vancouver Island. I spotted this tiny little specimen on sale at 40% off and thought why not? It will go on the front lawn, as an homage to our apartment in Vancouver. I doubt if I’ll live to see it reach its maximum height of 50′, but I plan to enjoy every minute of its young life. It will be pyramidal and very sculptural for a long time to come. It makes me smile every time I look at it!
